ECWA College of Health Technology Kagoro is located in Kagoro, Kaura LGA of Kaduna State, Nigeria. The establishment of the Health Technological Institution was born out of a decision taken by a Missionary body called Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) who came to Nigeria with the aim of preaching the Gospel through medicine vide the training of Health workers.
The institution started as a school in Jos in the year 1959 then known as Sudan Interior Mission Medical Auxillaries Training School (SIMMATS) Jos and ECWA Evangel Hospital (Jankwano) as its practice center.
In 1982, SIMMATS was relocated to Kagoro in Kaduna State, as ECWA School of Health Technology where the training of primary healthcare workers were introduced to train Community Health Aides (now JCHEW), Community Health Assistants (now CHEW) and Junior laboratory Assistants.
In 2005, ECWA upgraded the Institution to a College. Since then the College has expanded into five department s as following Community, Medical Laboratory Science, Health Information Management, Environmental Health Technology and Pharmacy Technician Training.
Presently, two departments namely dispensing opticianry and medical image processing where to the existing programmes. This bring the number of departments in college to seven. Effort is on-going for the take-off of National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health Information Management and Environmental Health Science.
We are envision to dynamic training to the award of various diplomas; Higher National Diploma, National Diploma, Professional Diplomas and Certificate programmes that cut across the seven departments of the college (Community Health, Medical Laboratory, Health Information Management, Pharmacy Technician, Environmental Health, Medical Imaging And X-Ray Processing and Dispensing Opticianry ).
The college strives to produce broadly and thoroughly educated graduates that are very productive anywhere they find themselves. Christian teachings and moral inculcated in our students makes them stands head and shoulder above their peer.

The College is currently sited where the early missionaries to Kagoro – Rev . Thomas (Dacip) Archilbald, his wife – Sarah (Dariya) and their daughter – Grace T . Archibald stayed. The Archibalds came to Kagoro on the 7th May, 1927
Kagoro is a large ancient and renowned town in Kaduna State, Nigeria. It is located in Kaura Local Government Area. Kagoro is an attractive town to many visitors especially the beautiful hills and the pleasant climate. It is the home of Afan Festival Which is an annual Festival [a socio-cultural event] that is celebrated on 1st January every year; this festival brings together the small and the mighty in the society ranging from Presidents, Governors and top politicians who are the “who – is – who in the society . The name “Afan” means hill and the Afan festival can be termed hill festival the name the ancient celebrants gave it and the celebration of which is believed to have commenced in circa 18th Century AD.
The Kagoro hills and caves have played a very significant and protective role firstly as the places where a stream of early Kagoro immigrants settled and secondly as places of refuge to the Kagoro people and a fortress from invading enemies and these very important reasons became the rationales for naming their New Year celebration “Afan” Festival.
The hills and caves therefore are potential tourists’ attraction.

It is strategically located as an intersect along Abuja-Kafanchan – Kachia – Kaduna and Abuja – Kafanchan – Manchok – Jos trunk A roads. With the co-ordinates of Latitude 9.6000 (DMS) 9° 35′ 60N, Longitude 8.3833 (DMS) 8° 22′ 60E and Altitude 2824 feet (860 meters) above sea level.
The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) is the Proprietor of the College with Headquarters in Jos, Plateau State – Nigeria.
The College is under the administrative oversight of the Medical Department of the ECWA.
